How big are the groups?
Our art sessions are held in small groups of around 4–6 children. We offer separate sessions tailored for two different age ranges: 6–8 and 9–12 years old. This allows us to provide focused attention and support for each child.
How flexible is the session?
Our sessions are highly flexible. Children are encouraged to participate at their own pace and can take breaks or leave the activity to self-regulate whenever they need. There’s no pressure to complete any task in a specific way — we prioritise each child’s comfort and well-being.
Are siblings welcome?
While our main sessions are designed for neurodivergent children, we recognise the importance of family support. We can offer separate classes specifically for siblings, to ensure that each child’s unique needs are met without distraction. Let us know if you’re interested in sibling sessions!
What materials do you use?
We use a wide variety of art materials, tools, and creative methods. Sessions might include drawing, painting, collage or other sensory-friendly materials. We always adapt our materials and activities to suit the preferences, abilities, and sensory needs of the children.
There’s no right or wrong way to create — our focus is on self-expression and enjoyment.
Is it suitable for non-verbal children?
Our sessions are designed to be inclusive and accessible for non-verbal children. Art offers a powerful non-verbal means of communication and self-expression. Activities are adapted individually so each child can participate comfortably.
Do you have sensory adaptations (low lighting, quiet music, etc.)?
Yes. We understand that many children benefit from sensory adjustments. Our sessions are held in spaces provided by Adventor, an organisation supporting people on the autism spectrum. We can offer low lighting, quiet background music, and other sensory-friendly adaptations based on each child’s needs.
How do you handle meltdowns?
We understand that meltdowns can happen, and we approach them calmly and without judgement. If a child becomes overwhelmed, we give them space, speak softly, and help them feel safe. Our goal is always to reduce stress, never to force participation. We work with each family to understand strategies that help their child feel better.
Are children free to leave the activity if overwhelmed?
Yes, absolutely. Children are always free to step away from any activity if they feel overwhelmed. There’s no pressure to stay engaged the whole time. We respect each child’s need to self-regulate and rejoin when they’re ready.
